Eggtrail
is a digital treasure hunt that’s easy to set up and fun for all ages! No need to download an app — just use your smartphone’s camera to scan QR codes and collect virtual eggs. Here’s how to get started:
Setup
- 🧭 Choose a theme for your trail. Or create a custom one.
- 💡 Write the hint and the answer for each code.
- 🖨️ Download our PDF template and print the QR codes.
- 📍 Place the QR codes around your location.
- ▶️ Click "Start" to begin the game.
Play
- 📱 Each player or team needs a smartphone with a camera.
- 🔐 Make sure your browser is NOT in Private Mode.
- 📷 Scan QR codes using your smartphone’s camera.
- 🥚 An item of the game will appear in your browser once scanned.
- 🎯 Click "Capture" to collect or interact with the item.
- 💰 Capturing an item earns you coins — and possibly Attack, Defense, or Vitality points if you're playing an RPG theme.
- 🏁 The goal: finish as fast as possible with the most coins.
- 📊 Track your progress and compare stats with other players in real time.
Tips for a Winning Hunt!
- 📶 Have a strong internet connection — mobile data or Wi-Fi.
- 🎭 Work as a team — divide and conquer for faster hunting.
- 🕵️ Look closely! QR codes can be hidden in tricky places.
- 🔄 Refresh your browser if a clue doesn’t load right away.
Some Eggtrail themes include a light RPG-style layer that adds stats, battles, and surprise events to your hunt.
- 🎲 Each player has Attack, Defense, Vitality, and Coins.
- 🛡️ Finding items or allies can boost your stats and earn you more coins.
- ⚔️ Enemies and traps can reduce your coins or Vitality — if Vitality reaches zero, that player is out.
- 🐉 In RPG themes, defeating the final Boss ends the trail and decides the true hero.
- 🥚 If you're not using an RPG theme, Eggtrail plays like a classic scavenger hunt — scan codes, solve clues, and race to collect the most coins.
