Frequently asked questions

Write to us
What is a QR scavenger hunt?

Codes printed on paper and mounted around your site. A visitor points a phone camera at one and a card opens in the browser β€” a monster to fight, a question to answer, treasure to bank. Then they go and find the next one. The board keeps score.

Do visitors need an app?

No. They point a phone camera at the code and it opens in the browser. There is no account and no email, and nothing at all is collected from a child.

How many people can play?

Your plan sets how many teams the board holds at once β€” on the free plan, 3. Plans with 50 or more daily players can reset the leaderboard and replenish the cards automatically each day. Say you host on Saturday. Your phone takes no place. The first 3 teams can join; the next team sees that the hunt is full. Reset the board before the next run to replenish the cards and free the places.

How long does it take to set up?

Pick a library story, print the cards, and place the codes. For your own story, allow time to review the cards and test the hunt before printing.

What does it cost?

Free β€” one trail, 3 teams at a time, no card. Choose any story in the library. A season for the whole organization goes on a card here; the bands by kind of place are on the pricing page. Goosechase and Actionbound charge by the player; here your plan sets how many teams play at once, and there is no fee per player.

Do we need Wi-Fi?

Phone signal where the codes are, and nothing else. The card opens over the network, so a basement corner with no bars is a code that scans and then spins β€” mount that one where the signal reaches.

Can we run it in Spanish?

Yes. Trails run in English or Spanish, and the story is written in the language you choose.

What's included in the free hunt?
  • Free includes every ready-made story, printable codes and the leaderboard. No card, and it never expires.
  • One trail at a time, and 3 teams on its board. A team is one phone, any number of people β€” and your own phone takes no place.
  • A place frees when you press Reset the board. Finishing a hunt frees your trail slot for the next one.
  • Paid plans add stories of your own and more daily players. Automatic daily resets start at 50 players. Upload your own card art.
